Arizona Inmate Search
Inmate records in Arizona are official files kept regarding individuals booked or incarcerated in county jails, state prisons, and other detention facilities in Arizona. A typical offender record in this state contains the designated inmate's personal and administrative information. Personal information refers to identifying details such as the inmate's full name, aliases, age, date of birth, gender, nationality, ethnicity, weight, height, eye color, hair color, and defining body marks. On the other hand, administrative information includes the incarcerated person's identification number, arresting agency, crime details, custody class, booking date and time, facility location, bail or bond amount, court dates, and projected release date.
In compliance with Arizona public records laws, inmate records are publicly available from the designated authorities responsible for these correctional facilities. This means you can obtain these records from a record custodian near you upon request. At the state level, they are available at the Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation and Reentry. Alternatively, you can get them from your local police department or sheriff's office.
The Arizona corrections system comprises ten state prisons, 16 county jails, and six private correctional facilities. They cumulatively house more than 40000 incarcerated individuals. Lewis Prison in Buckeye is the largest state prison in Arizona, housing up to 4000 offenders. The Maricopa County Jail is one of the most extensive jails in the United States, with an offender capacity of 10000.
You can locate an offender from the above correctional facilities as follows:
Arizona State Prisoner Locator
The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation and Reentry owns and operates all state prisons. This agency allows you to conduct an inmate search on its official website. To do this, click the "Public Resources" tab on the menu and select "Inmate Data Search." This tool requires you to provide the inmate's ADC number or full name. Since the name-based search often returns numerous results, using the inmate's current status and gender is advisable to narrow down the search results.
Individuals requesting or inquiring about records for specific offenders can contact the Department by email at [email protected]. They can also call (602) 364-3945 or (866) 333-2039 toll-free. Remember, ADCRR sends electronic copies to requesters via email unless the requestor specifies that they want these records sent via mail. The record custodian usually charges 10 cents/page for electronic records and 50 cents per page for paper records.
How to Locate an Inmate in a County Jail
Sheriff's offices and local police departments typically provide information on how to found if someone in jail. County jails generally house detainees and offenders awaiting trial, bond, or serving short sentences, usually a year or less. They house offenders convicted of less severe crimes, such as misdemeanor offenses.
Most county jails maintain an official website where the general public can perform a county jail search. They usually have an online inmate roster containing a list of offenders in the facility on the sheriff's office's website.
Contact the particular jail to inquire if you cannot find an inmate using the search tool. Remember, the jail staff will require you to provide the inmate's name and registration number.
