After a successful search, some results include the inmate's court files, physical description, bookings, arrest, release date, facility incarcerated, and offense committed. 

How to Conduct a County Jail Inmate Search 

The NYC DOC controls all incarcerated inmates held in county jails. Offenders in the county jails are either persons awaiting trial or serving a sentence of one year or less. The state prison in New York accommodates inmates serving a sentence of more than one year. You locate a loved one held in jail using the VINELink, where you must provide the offender's ID number and name. Alternatively, you can use the prison lookup tool to obtain offender records. To initiate the search, you must provide the offender's bookcase or ID or by giving the offender's first and last name. 

How to Locate Sex Offenders in New York 

The New York State Sex Offender Registration Act publishes information concerning sex offenders in the state. The DCJS is responsible for keeping details on sex offenders in the state. In addition, the department maintains an online directory with an active alert system to notify the public whenever the sex offender's custody status changes. Apart from searching online, you can visit or contact the law enforcement agencies such as the police department or the sheriff's office. 

How to Find a Detainee Held in ICE Custody 

One of the questions you have in mind when a loved one is held in ICE custody is why they were detained. The ICE agents can make arrests in different places, such as homes, businesses, and courthouses. An individual may be arrested for various reasons, including entering the country illegally, following orders given by a judge for their deportation while a removal proceeding is pending or if the judgment has not been made on their political asylum case. Search by A-Number 

You can use the detainee's A-Number to find them online. The A-Number contains nine digits and is issued to immigrants when the A-File is made. If the A-Number has fewer numbers, you should add zeros at the beginning. In addition, you should include the detainee's country of birth. 

Search by Biographical Information 

Searching a detainee by biographical details, you should provide the detainee's name, age, date of birth, and country of birth. You must check for misspellings, reversed names, or removing/adding a hyphen if you encounter problems during the search.
