How to Find a Detainee Held in ICE Custody
One of the questions you have in mind when a loved one is held in ICE custody is why they were detained. The ICE agents can make arrests in different places, such as homes, businesses, and courthouses. An individual may be arrested for various reasons, including entering the country illegally, following orders given by a judge for their deportation while a removal proceeding is pending or if the judgment has not been made on their political asylum case. You can find a detainee using the ICE Detainee Locator System, allowing you to find persons 18 years and above.
You can use the following searchable options:
Search by A-Number
You can use the detainee's A-Number to find them online. The A-Number contains nine digits and is issued to immigrants when the A-File is made. If the A-Number has fewer numbers, you should add zeros at the beginning. In addition, you should include the detainee's country of birth.
Search by Biographical Information
Searching a detainee by biographical details, you should provide the detainee's name, age, date of birth, and country of birth. You must check for misspellings, reversed names, or removing/adding a hyphen if you encounter problems during the search.
