North Dakota Inmate Search

Updated on: February 3, 2024
North Dakota

The North Dakota Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation offers the public and law enforcement details on the status and location of offenders within its facilities. To search, visit the Resident Lookup page to initiate the search. The search criteria require you to enter the offender's doc number or name. The DOC offender search does not contain details on inmates incarcerated outside the state or offenders sentenced out of state but incarcerated in a North Dakota facility. After entering the inmate's information, you will view a list of current offenders who match the details you entered.

Performing North Dakota Jail Inmate Search

Most counties allow the public to conduct an inmate search in North Dakota using an online locator service on the different law enforcement entities' official websites. Apart from finding an inmate online, you can visit or call the facility of interest or contact the sheriff's office to know if an inmate is held in any jails in North Dakota.

How to Conduct Sex Offender Search

A sex offender is any person accused of an illegal sexual crime. Section 12.1-32-15 of the state requires sex offenders in North Dakota to register with law enforcement entities and for the public to have access to such details. The law enforcement agency discloses such information to ensure citizen protection on grounds where a sex offender may pose a public threat. To find sex offenders in your neighborhood, visit the National Sex Offender Public page, which the Department of Justice runs. The site offers public access to citizens to find sex predators' information, such as the address and identity of all registered sex offenders in North Dakota.

Alternatively, you can acquire public record information from third-party websites. The privately owned websites host data retrieved from public databases and repositories.

How to Find an ICE Detainee

It can be quite confusing when a loved one is held in ICE custody, especially if you don't know which facility your loved one is in and how to get them out of ICE custody. You can utilize the Online Detainee Locator System to locate detainees aged 18 years and above. If the detainee is a juvenile, you are advised to contact the local field offices to help you get details concerning the detainee.

The ICE provides the following searchable options:

Search by Biographical Information

When using search by biographical information, you must enter the detainee's personal information, including name, age, date of birth, and country of delivery. If you experience problems during the search, check for misspellings, versions, adding/removing a hyphen, or reversing names.

Search by A-Number

You can find a loved one using the detainee's Alien Registration Number. The A-Number contains nine digits and is issued to noncitizens when the A-File is made. If the A-Number has fewer numbers, you should add zeros at the beginning. If the detainee is a permanent resident, you can get the A-Number from the green card, work permit, passport visa stamp, and immigrant fee handout. According to the ICE, the A-Number is the best option to use during the search as it provides a better match than searching by name.
