Virginia

County and regional facilities have their inmate lookup tools. These are usually available on the websites accommodating their details. To search for an inmate in a county or regional jail, visit the local law enforcement official page and search the offender list or jail roster. On the other hand, interested individuals may contact the jail to locate an individual in jail. Alternatively, you can visit or contact the sheriff's office to obtain information concerning an inmate incarcerated in local jails.

Prison Inmate Search

State prisons offer offender information on the Virginia department of corrections sites. The offender locator on the DOC'S site allows you to find the most recent data on a state offender. To initiate the search, you must enter the inmate's first and last names or the offender's DOC numbers. If you don't know the inmate's number, the search provides options to search using the inmate's alias name, middle name, age, sex, address, release date, and race. After submitting any of the details, the locator tool will give a list of offenders matching your description and their photographs to assist you in narrowing the search. The results you get from the search include the inmate's facility of incarceration, charges, bookings, court dates, physical description, and arrests.

Sex Offender Search

You can find sex offenders registered in Virginia through the Sex Offender Registry website. The website contains details on registered sex predators within the state. It gathers records of registered sex offenders from local law enforcement agencies. You can access the details such as the offender's offenses, name, photographs, arrests, bookings, fingerprints, facility incarcerated, and address. You can search by zip code, name, address, county, or city. Alternatively, you can access information concerning sex offenders by contacting the sheriff's office or the police department.

ICE Locator

Finding a loved one in ICE custody can be a confusing experience, especially if you have no idea where the loved one is held and how to get them out of detention. Luckily, you can use the Online Detainee Locator System, which will allow you to locate inmates over the age of 18 years. The ICE agent may conduct the arrest of individuals for various reasons, such as; entering the country illegally if the judgment has not been made on their political asylum case and following orders given by a judge for their deportation or while a removal proceeding is pending.

The locator provides the following searchable options:

Search by A-Number

You can find a detainee online by using the Alien Registration Number, a unique nine-digit number given to immigrants when their A-File is made. If the A-Number has fewer digits, you must add zeros at the beginning. You can easily find the A-Number on green cards, work permits, passport visa stamps, and immigrant fee handouts. Alongside the A-Number, you should include the detainee's country of birth.

Search by Biographical Details

To search for a loved one using biographical details, you must provide their full name, age, sex, and date of birth. It is important to remember that the name must be an exact match. In addition, if you encounter challenges during the search, you should check out for versions, reversed names, or removing/adding hyphens or misspellings. Alongside the biographical information, you must include the detainee's country of birth.
