West Virginia

The West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation allows you to conduct state offender locator searches via its official website. The department contains four online searches: daily incarcerations, offender search for jails, prison search, escapees, and absconders. Enter the offender's last or first name and DOC number to initiate the search. After submitting the inmate's details, the search will list inmates incarcerated. Click on more information to obtain more information about the offender's status. Some of the results you obtain include inmate arrests, bookings, facility incarcerated, crime committed, court dates, and release dates.

How to Perform Jail Inmate Search

Whether an offender is incarcerated in jail or prison depends on the severity of the offense and the time of sentencing in the state. The same inmate search tool works for locating an individual in jail; only this time, you will specifically select inmate search (jails) to get the central database for jail offender records in West Virginia.

How to Locate Sex Offenders in West Virginia

A sex offender is any individual that has been found guilty of a sex offense covered by state law or declared not guilty under the circumstances of a mental defect by the court. The sex offender registry of West Virginia has details on registered sex predators. The registry is updated each day as more sex predators register with the local police department in the various counties of the state. You can search by basic search, advanced search, and internet search. To initiate the search, you must provide the offender's name or address. Results you get from the search include the offender's physical description, photographs, fingerprints, arrests, sex offenses committed, facility incarcerated, release date, court date, and bond amount, among other details.

How to Find an ICE Detainee

When a family member or friend is taken into ICE custody, it can be quite a confusing experience, especially if you have no idea how to go about it. An individual can be arrested and taken to the ICE detention for various reasons such as entering the country illegally, following orders provided by a judge for their deportation, or while a removal proceeding is pending or if the judgment hasn't been made on their political asylum case. You can find a detainee by using the ICE Detainee Locator System. However, the tool locator will only provide information on individuals aged 18 years and above. You can use the following searchable options:

Search by Alien Registration Number

Underneath the language search bar, you can search for an individual detained in ICE custody using the A-Number. The A-Number contains nine digits and is given to noncitizens when their A-File is made. You must add zeros at the beginning of the number that has fewer digits. You can get the number on immigration documents such as work permits, green cards, passport visa stamps, and immigrant fee handouts. In addition, you must include the detainee's country of birth.

Search by Biographical Information

To perform the search by biographical details, you must provide the detainee's name, age, and date of birth. If you cannot find your loved one, try checking out different misspellings, reversed names, and versions or removing and adding a hyphen.
